If you are here because you read or heard some rumors about KMC being spread by a certain forum, "Welcome" and I hope you are open minded enough to thoroughly read through our site so you can conclude for yourself whether or not I am a good breeder. I'm simply a breeder working hard to get the chocolate Dane accepted as a breed standard color so it may be shown in conformation classes and to correctly educate the general public with the facts, not only about the chocolate Dane but about us as well.  There are many people breeding for the chocolate Dane, I'm just an easier target because I'm so passionate about it and have such a thorough web site.  I must be doing something right because I have a large number of supporters.

The fact is I do not think the chocolate Dane is rare, there's proof this color of Dane has been around since the 1600's.

The fact is I am accused of basing my prices strictly on color, lol, well if that's not the pot calling the kettle black!

The fact is even some members of this forum admit chocolate Danes are color pure as well as saying how gorgeous the chocolates and other "off colors" are and own one or would love to own one but would never breed "for them."   Humm,   1) they admit they are beautiful, 2) love owning one or would love to and 3) don't have the guts to breed for a Dane they admit is beautiful.... can you say hypocrite?  It also amazes me how many standard breeders think the off colors should be euthanized!  I'm also amazed by their mentality with some of the postings they put on the internet.  I least I don't have to photo shop pictures like they do.  Chocolate Danes do exist.  Lol, when they pull stunts like this it just make them out to be the fools, not me, not any chocolate Dane breeder.

The fact is
the original description of the breed (see 5th paragraph) allowed for various colors, plus brindles and patched Danes in all possible combinations!   I've discovered over the years many articles that I've referred to that support my comments are being deleted, humm wonder why?  lol  Here's a screen shot just in case.

The fact is the American Kennel Club, AKC already recognizes and accepts the chocolate color in Danes and has even assigned specific codes on their chart for registering them, as well as other Designer colors.  I'd like to make it clear I prefer to call them this rather than "off" colored Danes.  You see, I am specifically breeding for the chocolates so, they are being produced "by design" and not accident, therefore, as far as I'm concerned they are Designer Danes!  However, conformation, size, coat, temperament and pedigree are all considered first and then the color factors in when I choose the Danes I want in my breeding program.

The fact is if it weren't for breeders like me, trying to get another healthy color into the breed standard... the mantles and harlequins would not be in the standard today!  i.e. the mantles were not accepted until 1996!  Obviously those bashing me don't know as much as they think they do and have not researched fully the colors of the breed and what colors were originally accepted until "politics" got involved!  (Or they have selective memory just like most husbands.)

The fact is the brown aka chocolate Dane has no more health issues than the blues or other colors.  Any color of Dane can have health issues if bred improperly.  Yes, there are some chocolates out there that should not be bred but that is no different than the fact that there are some blacks, blues, brindles, harlequins and fawns out there that should not be bred.

The fact is I do not think I'm God's gift to the chocolate Dane as some of my fellow chocolate breeders have stated. I am simply passionate about the chocolate Dane in general, mine and the puppies they produce and hoping to get the chocolate Dane recognized as a breed standard color.   So much so that I take the time to do research on this color in the breed, be creative with my web site as well as the ads I place for my puppies.  My 11-29-11 horoscope sums it up pretty well on November 29, 2011.  ~~ You are usually very self-confident, Leo. To those who don't know you, you might even seem arrogant - but you aren't arrogant by nature. Whenever someone is sure of him/herself, there are always other people around who will resent that self-belief. Usually those people are rather insecure themselves. Don't be swayed from your current goal by someone who looks at you as being self-important or conceited. Your current goal is for the good of everyone involved. Forge ahead and remain dedicated to your mission. If you are steadfast, you will win over any adversaries.

The fact is my Danes are healthy, even tempered and sound. I'm not a BYB or PuppyMill as a certain group of people accuse me of being.  Lol, had someone ask me what the initials stand for and I told them Delusional Obnoxious Liars.

The fact is the majority of my customers are happy.   I use the word majority because you'll always have a sour grape or two in the bunch.  And if breed standard breeders says they never have, I'll call it like it is, they are liars, plain and simple.  Or they are not aware of it because they don't stay in touch with their customers.

The fact is every good breeder has to start somewhere, just as every good breeder is always looking to improve their breeding program and the fact is here at Kiss My Cocoa we are no different.

The fact is instead of just breeding for color as some people do,  we chose  to breed for GREAT chocolate Danes with CH pedigrees such as Von Meistersinger, BMW and an array of other champion bloodlines.

The fact is I don't breed my girls back to back, they only get bred once a year as they are not a form of ATM machine to me!  If I should ever decide to do so it will be a rare occurrence and I won't lie about it and say it was an accidental breeding like some breeders do routinely with their females.  You see, although I am addicted to my chocolate Danes, I support my Danes, they don't support me.

The fact is I am accused of breeding the chocolate and other off colors because I'm in it only for the money.  Yet apparently it's okay for breed standard breeders to advertise their dogs are money making machines when they are ready to sell them?

The fact is we wanted to bring in the European bloodlines in order to produce larger boned puppies, increase the body width and height as well as produce nice Euro type heads with great jowls.

The fact is I am no different than the people who only breed fawns, or only harlequins or only blues or only blacks.   After all, I could say they are essentially breeding just for color.  The only difference is those colors are breed standard.  One has to wonder if those that first bred for the blues, mantles and harlequins were bashed for doing so.  And the purist today should be grateful those breeders had thick skin or the colors would not be breed standards today.

Just like them, I am also breeding for good type, stable structure, and good heritable patterns for health and temperament in my dogs. After all, the whole point of color is to get it right in your breeding stock.  I am striving to continually improve the overall conformation of the chocolate Dane and to produce it consistently so that one day this beautiful color will be recognized as a breed standard color....  just as once upon a time the mantle and harlequin were accepted as breed standard colors.  In short, it's time for some to burn their "white sheets" or at least put them back in the closet or on the bed where they belong.

The fact is Chocolate Danes can be Service & Therapy K-9.  Chocolate Danes can compete in AKC Agility, Rally and Obedience and with other registries they can show in Conformation classes. Chocolate Great Danes are loving, beautiful, healthy and make wonderful companions.

The fact is I find it amusing I am faulted for all the chocolates being produced when people have been breeding them long before I came along.  There are breeders in MI, MO, KY, AZ just to name a few states. I guess it's because the bashers are too lazy to seek them out so they target me because I am out in the open with my breeding program while most of the other chocolate breeders hide until they have a litter to sell because they don't want to take the time or make an effort to defend their chocolate breeding program.

Sure there are some chocolate Danes being bred that shouldn't be and producing less than desirable puppies, however, I do not fault those gossiping about me for all the less than desirable breed standard puppies being produced!  I'm sure when mantles, blues, and harls were all first being bred, not all puppies were of top quality.  All good things come in time.

The fact is I am accused of overpricing my Danes "just because of their color" and they should only be "pets" when in fact it's the standard breeders who tend to overprice their "pet" Danes just because they are a certain type, take the Euros for instance.  Oh, and note the health "promise".... not "contract" but the breeders promise.  lol

The fact is some of these people just don't like the idea of possibly having more competition in the show ring in the near future and others don't like the idea of chocolate being a breed standard color simply because it wasn't their idea!  However, change happens so they'd better get ready!

So, all I have to say to them is, "If you didn't hear it with your own ears or see it with your own eyes, don't invent it with your small mind and share it with your big mouth!  Remember, rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools and accepted by idiots.  You see, life isn't like a bowl of cherries or peaches... it's more like a jar of jalapeños.  What you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow!"

Beloved comedian Bill Cosby once said, "I don't know what the key to success is, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone."

With this being said, I shall continue to breed my healthy chocolate Danes.  I hope you enjoy your tour of our web site and our beautiful chocolate and recessive chocolate Danes as well as our other beautiful Danes.
